So excited that we have tickets to this. ’8′ The Play is coming to Sydney. Yippee!
This play focuses on Proposition 8 – the California legislation that repelled the legal rights of same-sex couples legally married in California. Two couples challenged this in court. ’8′ the play follows that court case.
The play is written by Academy Award-winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar), and is based on the actual Trial transcripts.
In Australia the play will be directed by Bruce Myles. It will also coincide with the handing down of the senates findings on same-sex marriage in Australia. The actors are volunteering their time for this play and all profits will support Australian Marriage Equality and their fight to end Marriage discrimination in Australia.
The goal of ’8′ is to show the world that marriage equality is a basic constitutional right and that those who would deny this basic freedom from loving, committed couples have only vitriol and baseless hyperbole to fall back on. The facts are on our side and truth always finds the light.
